Chief Executive Officer

Steve Vamos, Chief Executive Officer of Xero leads the global growth and performance of the business. With more than 30 years’ experience in global technology and digital media, Steve has worked in leading international businesses, including Apple, IBM and Microsoft. Steve also led the growth of ninemsn, an online media business, from start-up to industry leader as company’s Chief Executive Officer. Steve holds a degree in Civil Engineering (with Honors) from the University of New South Wales, Australia.

Sankar Narayan

Follow Sankar Narayan

Sankar Narayan is the Chief Operating and Financial Officer ​and is responsible for driving operational outcomes and revenue globally. He has previously held several senior management roles including the CFO roles at ​Virgin Australia, ​Fairfax Media and Foxtel.
 

Sankar has an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and is an FCPA (Australia). He also holds a masters degree in electrical engineering from the State University of New York.

Tony Stewart

Tony is the Chief Product, Platform and Data Officer, his areas of responsibility cover all aspects of product development and product operations including the cloud platform, security and availability, all the internal systems and automations and maximising the value Xero gets from its data assets through advanced analytics and insights, and value added customer experiences.

 

Before Xero, Tony was Founder and CEO of Intergen, a specialised Microsoft systems integrator, which he grew from start-up to over 400 staff in 3 countries. He remains actively involved in the technology start-up scene with companies such as PartsTrader, CricHQ, Aptimize and Signal Corporation.

 

Tony is Associate Chartered Accountant and an experienced business manager with hands on experience in Financial Management, HR, Sales & Marketing and technology leadership.

Anna Curzon

Leading the Partner teams globally, Anna spearheads product management, development, design, and marketing to bring more exciting Xero features to partners and customers. Anna also heads our global teams working on Xero HQ and Ecosystem, including the Xero App Marketplace, where 600+ apps live to better serve small businesses.
 

Before starting with Xero as Managing Director for New Zealand, Anna led Internet Banking at ASB and Digital First at Spark, and brings a deep experience of online financial services and operations to Xero.

Rachael Powell

Rachael Powell is the Chief Customer and People Officer and is responsible for Xero’s Customer Success and People Experience functions globally. She has previously held positions in strategy, marketing, talent management and channel development across online and technology businesses. In her current capacity, she brings together her dual passions; delighting our customers and nurturing our people. Rachael believes that customer experience must resonate from the inside-out and advocates for positive engagement programs to effectively mobilise the business strategy at scale. She has a Masters in Applied Positive Psychology, an Executive Business Administration (EMBA), and a Bachelor in Business (Accounting and Marketing).

Kirsty is a Chartered Accountant with over 20 years experience in the finance and technology sectors. Kirsty leads Xero’s financial operations creating a beautiful internal experience to support our teams. Prior to Xero, Kirsty was a partner at PwC New Zealand focusing on helping small businesses achieve their goals and also led PwC’s regional cloud strategy. Passionate about providing excellent financial services, Kirsty’s strategic, technology and finance experience is the perfect fit for Xero’s next stage of growth.

CHAIR OF THE BOARD

Graham has more than 25 years of finance experience in the software and SaaS industry. He was previously Executive Vice President of Finance at Salesforce, after seven years as its Chief Financial Officer. He has held executive positions at Advent Software, Vitria Technology, Nuance Communications and Oracle. Graham also serves on the Board of Directors at Splunk, MINDBODY, BlackLine and Citrix.

Rod Drury

Rod Drury

XERO FOUNDER / NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

For more than a decade Rod led Xero from humble beginnings with four employees working in a Wellington apartment to a global software business and ASX 100 company. Rod started his career at Ernst & Young and went on to establish and lead a number of innovative technology businesses that were subsequently acquired. Previously Rod was an independent director of the New Zealand Stock Exchange and Trade Me during its acquisition to Fairfax.

Rod was named Visionary Leader of the Year at the Deloitte Top 200 Awards 2017, EY New Zealand 100Entrepreneur of the Year 2013, and is a member of the New Zealand Hi-Tech Hall of Fame.

Bill is Executive Chairman of Turbonomic. Bill is a Director at SurveyMonkey, where he was previously CEO. He was also previously Executive Vice President and General Manager of HP’s $27 billion Enterprise Group. Prior to this, he was HP’s Chief Operating Officer and spent 20 years at Microsoft in business and engineering leadership roles.

NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Lee Hatton is the CEO of UBank and Executive General Manager of Direct Banking at National Australia Bank (NAB). With more than two decades in the financial services industry, Lee has a breadth of experience. In her current roles, Lee oversees more than 3,000 people within NAB’s Direct business and leads UBank, a digital only bank that is introducing new innovation to the financial services industry. Lee started her career as a graduate at Westpac Banking Corporation in New Zealand, and subsequently held a number of roles across the UK, the US and Australia. Lee is also currently an Executive Director of the NAB Venture Fund.

Graham Smith

NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Craig co-founded Australian small business accounting software provider MYOB in 1991. Craig built MYOB to be a popular business tool and brand which, in 2004, merged with Solution 6 to become Australia’s largest IT company. Craig joined Xero's board and became a substantial shareholder in 2009. He now spends the bulk of his time working in the philanthropic sector.

Susan is an experienced independent director on both ASX and NZX listed companies. She is currently an independent director of listed companies Trustpower, Vista Group and Property for Industry. Susan is also a director of The New Zealand Merino Company. Susan is a member of the New Zealand Markets Disciplinary Tribunal, was a past Ministerial Appointee to The National Advisory Council for the Employment of Women and has also been a long-serving member of the Board of IHC.

Dale Murray

Dale Murray, CBE, is a technology entrepreneur and growth-company advisor. Dale co-founded mobile pioneer Omega Logic in 1999, which co-launched prepay top-ups in the UK. She led the growth of top-up transactions to £450m within five years, generating net revenue of £25 million. After selling the company in a trade sale she turned to investing and advising start-ups and won the British Angel Investor of the Year award in 2011. Dale is currently a Non-Executive Director at Sussex Place Ventures, a Non-Executive Director and Trustee for the Peter Jones Foundation, and a Board Advisor to Seedrs. She served on the Business Taskforce on EU Redtape for the Prime Minister in 2013.

Chaman has over 20 years experience leading legal operations, legal strategy, compliance, governance, and risk management. She is dual-qualified in Australia and the U.S. and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Chaman has previously been group General Counsel and Company Secretary for Envato, a global tech marketplace platform, and Lonely Planet Publications, a global travel content publisher.
